Statement following closure of Rickmansworth Aquadrome

Updated: 1 February 2021

Due to flooding, the park is temporarily closed to ensure the safety of the public

Statement from Cllr Sarah Nelmes, Leader of Three Rivers District Council:

“Today (1 February) we have made the decision to temporarily close the whole of Rickmansworth Aquadrome with immediate effect as a result of flooding caused by heavy rain and snow over the past week. The closure includes the car park and Ebury play area.

“Prompt action was taken over the weekend by council officers to fence off the worst affected areas, but regrettably some visitors ignored this and removed the safety measures we had in place.

“This leaves us with no option than to close the park in order to ensure the safety of the public which, of course, is always our absolute priority.

“I know this will be disappointing to many people who rely on the park for exercise, but our teams are working hard to alleviate the flooding.

“We will put out further messages on our website and social media once the Aquadrome is safe to reopen.”
