The Ukrainian national flag is being flown at Three Rivers District Council’s head office to continue to show solidarity with the people of Ukraine.

To mark the four-year anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Cllrs Stephen King, Chair, and Stephen Giles-Medhurst OBE, Leader, hoisted the Ukrainian flag at Three Rivers House in Rickmansworth on Tuesday 24 February.

Cllr King said: “It is dreadful that Ukraine and its people continue to suffer from Russian attacks. On behalf of the council and the district, I send our message of friendship, support and solidarity to the Ukrainian people and their loved ones and relatives around the world.”

Cllr Giles-Medhurst said: “I cannot imagine the hardships and suffering the Ukrainians continue to experience. Russia’s war has been happening for four years, and I hope nations across the world continue to pressure Russian President Putin in agreeing to a ceasefire. It continues to be important to stand with Ukraine and show that we still remember their fight for sovereignty. Slava Ukraini!”
