Three Rivers District Council is to start promoting a new freephone service designed to help residents find the best grants and discounts to insulate their homes.

The Warmer Homes Greener Herts service works by identifying the best value scheme or combination of grants or discounts for each home owner's particular circumstances, saving them time and money.

Three Rivers District Council have set up a partnership with Milton Keynes Energy Agency (MKEA) to deliver this to their residents. MKEA is an independent, not-for-profit company dedicated to helping local people save energy, keep warm and reduce fuel bills.

Councillor Martin Trevett, Portfolio Holder for the Environment, said:

"Insulating your home is one of the most cost-effective ways to cut your energy bills and to help your home stay warmer in winter.

"The District Council is keen to raise awareness of the available grants and discounts as the savings can be quite considerable, sometimes 100%. We are delighted to be a partner in this scheme and look forward to working with MKEA on other energy-related projects on behalf of our residents."

Discounts are currently available to ALL homeowners and private tenants for loft and cavity wall insulation. Residents in receipt of certain benefits can even apply for a grant to cover the full cost of the work.

To find out more, residents can call the advice service on 0800 80 48 777. Lines are open Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm.
