Health and wellbeing initiatives in Maple Cross and Mill End will receive a major boost thanks to funding secured from HS2.

Three Rivers District Council has successfully secured £57,263 from the HS2 Community and Environment Fund to enhance its Healthy Hub Three Rivers programme, with a particular focus on supporting residents in Maple Cross and Mill End.

The funding will enable the council to expand targeted health and wellbeing initiatives designed to improve access to support services, reduce isolation, and promote healthier lifestyles for local residents affected by ongoing disruption linked to the HS2 project.

The Healthy Hub programme acts as a central point of support for residents, connecting people with local services, activities, advice and community groups that help improve physical and mental wellbeing. The additional HS2 funding will allow the council and its partners to expand the number of Hub locations in the district and provided additional targeted outreach support within Maple Cross and Mill End.

Cllr Steve Drury, the council’s Lead Member for Community Engagement, Public Safety & Housing, said: “We are delighted to have secured this funding from the HS2 Community and Environment Fund. Maple Cross and Mill End residents have experienced considerable disruption as a result of HS2 works, and this investment will help us provide meaningful support through our Healthy Hub programme.

“This funding will strengthen community resilience, improve wellbeing, and ensure residents have greater access to the services and opportunities that help people stay healthy and connected.”

The programme will focus on delivering accessible and inclusive initiatives that respond directly to the needs of local communities, helping residents access practical advice, cost of living support, social opportunities, health support and activities that encourage positive wellbeing.

The HS2 Community and Environment Fund was established to support communities along the HS2 route by funding projects that improve local areas and help offset the impacts of construction.
