Views are being sought over proposed changes at High Elms Lane in Garston, near Abbots Langley, aimed to improve road safety, parking, and journeys for those who need to visit the two local high schools and the West Herts Crematorium as well as nearby residents.

The proposals from Three Rivers District Council are designed to make it safer and easier for motorists and pupils at the schools and for those who walk, cycle, or take public transport.

Revised parking restrictions are proposed as well as physical alterations to the footway, new parking bays, verge changes and minor alterations to the carriageway as well as improved crossing facilities.

Cllr Sarah Nelmes, the council’s deputy leader and lead member for transport, said: “If you live in High Elms Lane or visit regularly we particularly want to hear from you. I know how congested and difficult it can get at certain times of the day. These changes are aimed to make it safer and easier for everyone. We welcome all comments – so please complete our consultation today.”

The feedback received during this consultation will be considered when deciding how to proceed with the scheme. The deadline for responses is 21 April.

Consultation responses can be submitted at: haveyoursay.threerivers.gov.uk/high-elms-lane

Council officers will also be exhibiting the plans and answering questions about the scheme at Abbots Langley Healthy Hub, Citizens Advice, WD5 0AS on Wednesday 8 April, 1pm – 4pm.
