Community projects get £1.2m funding boost from district council
More than £1.2m has been allocated to four schemes from a levy on developers building across Three Rivers district.
A meeting of the Full Council of Three Rivers District Council approved on Tuesday 10 December to allocate funds from its Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) pot – a charge on new developments in the district to fund strategic infrastructure – to Sarratt Parish Council, Three Rivers Community Safety Partnership, Oxhey Jets Football Club and Hertfordshire County Council.
Oxhey Jets FC applied for £966,000 of CIL funds to refurbish its clubhouse and replace its grass football pitch with a sustainable full-size 3G football astro pitch while Sarratt Parish Council will get £200,000 to improve the King George V Pavilion.
Nine new CCTV cameras will be purchased by Three Rivers Community Safety Partnership after its £76,716 application was successful and Hertfordshire County Council received £10,500 to reconfigure the Young Adult Area and Local Studies Area at Croxley Green Library in Barton Way.
Cllr Stephen Giles-Medhurst, Leader of Three Rivers District Council, said: “It’s fantastic we can make good use of funds from developers to support projects, like these, that have a positive and lasting impact on the communities we serve.
“We have been collecting CIL since 2015, and we have so far allocated more than £7.4m since then that allowed communities to press on with their respective schemes. We look forward to investing in further projects and infrastructure across the district.”
Details on how to apply for CIL funding can be found here.
