Following a multi-million pound investment, Leavesden Country Park has been transformed into a thriving green space which is enjoyed by everyone.

Now Three Rivers District Council is encouraging residents to nominate it, and other local parks, for this year’s People’s Choice Park award.

The award, which is run by the Keep Britain Tidy campaign, celebrates the best and most beautiful of the nation’s green spaces based on the views of park users.

The investment in Leavesden Country Park has enabled the installation of a heritage sculpture trail, Leavesden HIVE education building, a themed play area, a sensory garden, a Park Ranger, woodland path, Woodlands Café, Leavesden Cycle Hub, 3G Sports Pitches and extensive restoration of heritage features including East Lane Cemetery.

Three Rivers has a total of four parks eligible for the competition: Chorleywood House Estate,, Rickmansworth Aquadrome, South Oxhey Playing Fields and Leavesden Country Park.

Voting closed on 25 November 2020. The nation’s favourite green spaces will be announced on 3 December.

Cllr Chris Lloyd, Lead Member for Leisure, added: “I’d like to congratulate and thank all those staff and volunteers who have worked so hard to make these beautiful open spaces safe during this challenging year. Please vote for your personal favourite and help us to truly get the national recognition these parks deserve.”
