A key plan that sets out a blueprint for the future of Three Rivers has been adopted by the district council – but what is it and what does it mean for residents and businesses?

Three Rivers District Council has an updated three-year corporate framework 2023-2026 that sets out the local authority's ambitious vision, priorities, and goals for the district and how it will achieve them.

Four objectives that cover the district’s environment, economy, and social fabric will be the main focus for the council in order for the district to continue to thrive and be a great place to live, work and visit.

These four priorities include providing responsive and responsible local leadership, expanding the district’s position as a great place to do business, supporting and enabling sustainable communities, and achieving a net carbon-zero district by 2045 whilst being climate resilient.

Council Leader, Cllr Sarah Nelmes, said: “Our corporate framework provides a strategic direction that will steer the council’s journey through these difficult times and into a prosperous future for the district for residents, visitors, businesses and other organisations.

“We want Three Rivers to be a district where everyone feels welcome and a place that people feel they belong and feel safe in whilst also being able to access good quality and affordable housing as well as infrastructure that will support healthy lifestyles and address health inequalities.

“And of course, the council has made climate change a green thread in its decision-making as we make it our key aim for the council to be net-zero by 2030 and for the district to be net-zero by 2045.

“I know we will meet these ambitions and deliver not only a district that truly is a great place to live, work and visit but also a district with significant opportunities that our communities can maximise on.”
