16th September 2019

On Sunday 15 September in Abbots Langley, The annual Battle of Britain Parade and Service took place. It was organised by the local branch of the Royal Air Forces Association. Three Rivers District Council supported the local community event by empowering event organisers to close public roads.

The parade made of up of veterans’, Royal Air Force cadets squadrons from around the district and serving armed forces personnel. Members of the public also joined the service and watched the parade proceed along the High Street to the local church, where a service took place followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the War memorial.

Three rivers chairman Paula Hiscocks was honoured to take part in the Royal Air Forces Association service commentating The Battle of Britain at Abbots Langley St Lawrence church.

Cllr Hiscocks said: “On such a stunning, sunny September morning, it was a privilege to remember and give thanks to all those brave men and women who have served and do now serve in our Royal Air Force.

“We must always remember and learn from the past and never forget those who gave their lives so we may live in peace.”
