A survey has shown positive satisfaction with the services residents receive from their local district council in Three Rivers.

The majority (61%) of respondents to the annual Three Rivers District Council Residents’ Survey said they were satisfied with the way it runs its services.

Eighty-four percent of respondents also said they were satisfied with where they live, and 87% agreed it was a great district in which to live. The survey also showed that 93% of respondents felt confident using their recycling bins.

Meanwhile, 94% of those who responded reported that they feel safe in their local area during the day and 70% feel safe in their local area after dark.

The biggest concern for households over the next three years, showed a significant shift with 61% selecting ‘cost of living’ compared to only 34% in the last survey. Physical health and wellbeing represented the next biggest concern, followed by environmental concerns.

The survey launched on 1 November 2025 and closed on 1 February 2026, and was hosted on the council’s Have Your Say online platform.

Cllr Stephen Giles-Medhurst OBE, Leader of the Council, said: “It is encouraging to discover that the majority of those who responded to our survey are satisfied with the services that the district council provides. We have also discovered through this analysis of public opinion that people do feel safe on our streets.

“The survey has also highlighted areas for improvement. We will take note of what has been said – and we will take action. Cost of living is an ongoing challenge faced by many people, and this survey shows us that this challenge is growing as people find rising energy costs and general global uncertainty a growing difficulty.”
