There’s something in the water at Artistsmeet as we begin a creative 2016, showcasing an exciting new exhibition with a big pop of colour.

There’s something in the water at Artistsmeet as we begin a creative 2016, showcasing an exciting new exhibition with a big pop of colour.

The gallery will feature the work of Jo Atherton, an artist who creates fascinating and playful tapestries using debris and materials found from scouring the coastlines of the UK.

Expect to discover balloons from France, fishing gear from the Netherlands and toys from the USA within Jo’s woven pieces, which will fill the gallery and conjure up stories of memory, childhood and everyday life. There will even be a 'work in progress' loom on display, allowing visitors to touch and feel the weaving as well as see it visually.

She is fascinated by the curiosities that the tides wash up on to our beaches, the history associated with where they came from and who they belonged to, more about Jo can be found at

As well as exhibiting with the National Maritime Museum in Cornwall and Luton Airport, Jo has presented at TedxBedford, is regularly featured in publications and runs engaging weaving workshops for schools, galleries and textiles groups.

We are delighted to be offering a one off weaving workshop at Artistsmeet led by the artist, where you can create your own flotsam tapestry using unearthed treasures gathered from her journeys along British shores.
