Tributes are being paid to Derek Frankland, who was 89, a former Member of the Three Rivers District Council, serving two four year terms. He was nominated to be Chairman of the Council for 1994/5 by Cllr Trevett.

As chairman he was delighted to discover how much goodwill there was in the district from individual and group volunteers in many fields, and to be able to thank them all in person.

Derek was also a former Head Teacher of St. Peters Primary school in Mill End and Governor of Chorleywood Primary school for 30 years. He served on County and Diocesan education committees and was on the National Council for the Association of Head Teachers

Lead Member, Martin Trevett, said “Derek was a highly respected and positive member of the community. I knew him for over 30 years, he was my friend and colleague, supporter and I will miss him sorely. We will all be thinking of his family at this time and hold fond memories of his time with us.”
