Thinking about trying reusable nappies but not sure where to start?Join us to learn more about reusable nappies with a live demonstration at one of our Nappy Natters.

It’s time to talk nappies – reusable nappies – at a series of talks which are taking place across Three Rivers district to demonstrate the benefits of ditching the single use alternatives.

Three Rivers District Council is working with local nappy experts Stork and The Bees . The events are being held at libraries and will feature demonstrations of many different types and styles of reusable nappies alongside information and advice on how to use and care for them.

Switching to reusable nappies can help parents reduce their carbon footprint and save money. Babies need at least 4,000 nappy changes in their first 2.5 years of life.

Cllr Phil Williams, the council's Lead Member for Environmental Services, Climate Change and Sustainability: "Choosing reusable nappies can reduce a family’s carbon footprint by up to 40% and reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill - currently 15,800 tonnes of nappy waste is created in Hertfordshire each year, costing over £1.7 million each year to dispose of."

Reusables nappies now are a far try away from the old days of Terry Towelling and safety pins. Vibrant patterns, a variety of designs, and nappies made to fit from birth to potty make reusable nappies more convenient than ever.

Stork and the Bees are our local Nappy Library who run a session on the first Tuesday of every month in Croxley Green Library – so if you are unable to make an event this November, you are able to visit them there. A nappy library is like a traditional book lending library, except for hiring reusable nappies! Nappy libraries offer support and impartial advice to families interested in reusable nappies. With the Library, hire nappies are often bundled into kits of different types and brands with all the accessories you’ll need, offering families a range of options to try before committing to buying their own stash.

The council has partnered with a great selection of reusable nappy suppliers to bring you a 15% discount. You can also buy them second-hand to help keep costs lower.
