To celebrate National Compost Awareness Week, Three Rivers District Council invited residents to collect free bags of 100% organic garden compost at Rickmansworth Aquadrome.
The compost was produced from garden waste collected from homes, across the District.
The Council gave away 10 tonnes of free compost at the event, donated by West London Composting drawing over 100 residents. The residents were eager to know where the compost came from and when the next event would take place.
Councillor Phil Brading said “This is a great way to thank people for recycling their garden waste and encourage gardening enthusiasts to use sustainably produced local compost. We’re grateful to West London Composting for their annual donation of compost; next year we’ll make sure that residents elsewhere in the district get the benefit. Look out for publicity in early Spring 2018.”
