Poppy wreaths will be laid at war memorials across Three Rivers district on Remembrance Sunday (9 November) and on Armistice Day (11 November) to honour the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces and all those whose lives have been affected by war and conflict.

On Remembrance Day, Three Rivers District Council will join the rest of the nation in honouring the courage, commitment, and sacrifice of all service personnel that gave so much in conflicts past and present. This day is a time for reflection, unity and gratitude as the district and the nation remember all those who sacrificed their lives for our country.

Oxhey Jets are holding their annual Remembrance Match, held in honour of all those who have lost their lives in war. The match is held in memory of a former player, Private Thomas Lake, who was killed in action in November 2011 and Captain Tom Sawyer, who was killed in an explosion while taking part in a joint operation in 2009.

This year’s match, against HM Royal Marines, is being held on Saturday 1 November 2025 at 14:00 (for a 14:30 kick off), and will raise money for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.

There will also be a Remembrance Day afternoon tea and quiz at the Seniors Forum in Rickmansworth on 6 November between 2.30pm – 4pm. Please email committeeteam@threerivers.gov.uk to book your space.

Councillors from all political groups will be representing Three Rivers District Council at services of remembrance across the district, including Cllr Stephen Giles-Medhurst OBE, Leader of the Council, who will attend St Lawrence Church, Abbots Langley following the Act of Remembrance and parade along Abbots Langley High Street and Cllr Stephen King, Chair of the Council, who will attend the Methodist Church, South Oxhey as well as the Oxhey Jets Remembrance Match.
