Volunteers and community leaders from across the district attended a formal dinner at York House School in Croxley Green on Saturday evening (26 April).

The event was organised to celebrate the community work undertaken in the district every single day of the year.

As well as dinner, guests were treated to a performance by Rickmansworth Players, who are celebrating their 70th anniversary this year, which featured a variety of 'songs from the shows' spanning the last seven decades, paying particular attention to the 1970s to commemorate 40 years of Three Rivers District Council.

Three Rivers Chairman, Les Mead, said:

"This was the night of the Civic Reception when the Council invites charities and unsung heroes to a night of recognition. It was a great honour for my wife Carol and me  to be able to thank so many deserving people who take that one little extra step and quietly work to make other people’s  lives better.  Three Rivers would be a poorer place without them."
