The park has something for everyone and prides itself on being able to offer a place to explore, discover and learn in.

Saturday 6 July sees the celebration of the National Lottery Project and the official unveiling of the Heritage Trail, woodland walks, play area and much more.

Join us at the mini beach, as ten tonnes of sand will be used to create a huge sandpit for the weekend full of buckets and spades.  If you want a quieter time, take a stroll in the south of the park past the St Pancras Workhouse/Orphanage railings which have been beautifully restored along College Road (formally known as Asylum Road). You’ll come across the new art installations nestled against the beauty of the trees.  The nine sculptures, known as the Minds, Machines and Movies Heritage Trail, have been created by highly skilled artists and pay tribute to the site’s history of the Leavesden Aerodrome and Rolls Royce factory, the Leavesden Film Studios and the Leavesden Asylum/Hospitals.

The refurbished Edwardian Garden steps lead you down to the Remembrance Garden, which has been laid in memory of those who lived, volunteered and worked on this site, many of whom were from the local area and worked hard to make life better for others. You are invited to sit for a moment here and enjoy the peace of the park.

For more of the action, stay on the north side and visit the new play areas hilltop play tower to spot the huge flying carpet swing or climb aboard the aircraft waiting for take-off! Alternatively, see one of the artists in chain-saw action creating a new totem pole for the park!

The celebration day has heritage and wildlife activities all day and if you want to give Mindful Yoga, Tai Chi, Nordic walking and health walks ago – this is the place! The 6 July will be a jamboree of activities to put a smile on everyone’s face and a time to salute the important heritage of Leavesden.

This is a free day to all the community to enjoy. Timetable details are found on our website by visiting threeriversleisure.co.uk.

The work in Leavesden Country Park is a result of community engagement to improve the area. A big thank you to all the National Lottery Players without whom this project would not be possible and to Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden for their support. Three Rivers District Council, along with its partners, is delighted to deliver the vision of shared heritage and appreciation of the park.

Councillor Sara Bedford, Leader of Three Rivers District Council, said: “I am delighted to celebrate the legacy of the area. It is important for the community and visitors to have the green space with a variety of amenities they can have fun in and enjoy with present and future generations.”

Councillor Chris Lloyd, Lead Member for Leisure, added:  “I am very pleased with the restoration, wildlife and heritage projects within the park. I hope that the community enjoy the new facilities and visit the park with their families and friends.”
