Motorists are being urged to be on their guard against scam text messages regarding outstanding parking tickets.

Three Rivers District Council has been made aware of text messages being sent to drivers and residents falsely claiming that they need to pay an outstanding penalty charge notice (PCN).

Cllr Sarah Nelmes, Deputy Council Leader and Lead Member for General Public Services, said: “We will never contact you via text message to request PCN payments. If you receive this text message, please do not make any payments, do not share your bank details and do not click on the link. It’s important to be on your guard."

Residents are urged to report this scam to Action Fraud online or by calling 0300 123 2040.
