Come charge with us – new EV charge points introduced to TRDC car parks

Press ReleaseUpdated: 6 August 2025Parking

Need to charge your car? No problem - the first Electric Vehicle (EV) charge points in council-owned car parks have opened in Three Rivers this week, with more set to follow.

The new EV charging points at Three Rivers District Council owned Henbury Way Car Park in South Oxhey opened on Friday 1 August as part of an Office for Zero Emission Vehicles’ On-street Residential ChargePoint Scheme funded project.

The project will see two charge points installed in council-owned car parks across the district.

EV motorist and leader of the council, Cllr Stephen Giles-Medhurst, said: “This is great news and the first step in a project that I know will be hugely welcome news to motorists across Three Rivers. You can now park in our car parks and charge your cars at the same time.

“As a council, we are dedicated to reducing carbon emission in the district and having these new EV points in another key step in the right direction. So, if you have an EV, come and charge in Henbury Way and soon our other car parks. Providing this infrastructure enables Three Rivers district residents and visitors to use an EV even if they don’t have the ability to charge at home.”

The location and configuration of charging points have been determined by several technical factors including the electricity grid infrastructure. The charging points will be installed and managed by Blink Charging with more sites set to open soon.
