Children across Three Rivers had something to smile about this summer as the popular Playscheme service run by Three Rivers District Council returned to two sites just in time for the holiday. COVID19 restrictions were carefully put in place to ensure the health and safety of all children and staff but this did not stop the fun.

Yorke Mead School in Croxley Green and Bedmond Academy were the two venues that hosted this year’s Playschemes and after a long time at home with no social interaction with their friends, children came in droves to enjoy a summer full of excitement!

Isabella, aged 6 years, attended Yorke Mead playscheme, said “It was the best week of my life!”

A parent added “I felt it was a really positive experience. My daughter has always been against going and was nervous about attending. It was lovely to see her enjoy it so much! It really helped having friends in her bubble and the lovely staff.”

The high praise continued with one parent explaining how her daughter felt after attending Bedmond Academy playscheme.   “She says it was excellent and it made her smile all the time!” She added, “Just to say thank you to all the staff at the playscheme they all did a great job. See you next year hopefully.”

Cllr Chris Lloyd, Lead Member for Leisure, was extremely happy that the service was able to be offered this year “Families have had a tough year and children who were not able to return to school have really missed seeing their friends. I am delighted that the Playschemes provided the social interaction they needed”. He went on to say, that plans are already underway to run Playschemes next Easter.
