Female netball players came together to battle it out at a festival.

Teams from across the county came to William Penn Leisure Centre  in Rickmansworth for a netball festival.

Ricky Ravers took the title following some close games on Monday. On Tuesday, the Walking Netball festival was held and Wodson Park were the winners.

Lucy Ponting, England Netball Coach, said: “It was fantastic to see so many women playing netball. There were some closely fought matches, all played in good spirits and with excellent sportsmanship.

"Both Back to Netball and Walking Netball are a brilliant way to get active and learn some new skills in a fun and friendly environment and I would encourage anyone to give it a try.’’ Louvaine Hunt from the Ricky Ravers team, said: “It was the first time I’d taken part in an event and I had an absolutely fabulous time. The back to netball group that Louise runs at William Penn is a vital part of my week and it’s really helped to improve my fitness and boosted my confidence too.”

Catherine Kelly, another participant, said: “We had been looking forward to it for weeks and to say that we all enjoyed it is an understatement. The buzz afterwards was great."

Ryan Watson, sports development officer at Three Rivers District Council , added his thanks to all involved - from the ladies who took part across both days to the coaches and staff at William Penn.

He added: “It was a great couple of days and there was some good, competitive netball played and we had some excellent homemade cakes after. If you’re interested in giving Netball a go then come along to one of our weekly classes.”
