Council marks Holocaust Memorial Day at head office

Holocaust Memorial Day has been marked at Three Rivers District Council’s head office in Rickmansworth to remember those who died in the Holocaust and subsequent genocides.
The Holocaust Memorial Day flag was displayed at Three Rivers House in remembrance of the six million Jewish people, and the millions of other people, including members of the Roma, Sinti, Slavic, black, gay and disabled communities, murdered by the Nazis during the Holocaust. The day also commemorates genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.
Holocaust Memorial Day, which takes place on Tuesday, 27 January, is held each year on the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau. It aims to educate, commemorate and prompt action against discrimination and hatred in our communities today.
Cllrs Stephen Giles-Medhurst, Leader of Three Rivers District Council, Oliver Cooper, Conservative Group Leader, and Chris Mitchell, The Green Group Leader, were joined by Sukhi Kaur, Gate Herts, Sharron Goldstein, ARK Synagogue.
