Businesses across Three Rivers are being invited to a major conference which will offer tips for successful high street trading, help for setting up businesses and guidance on weathering current economic challenges.

The Three Rivers High Street Conference is being hosted by retail experts including SaveTheHighStreet.org. The event will feature advice for high street operators and guidance on working together to make high streets a destination for local communities. The event will showcase insights from surveys with  local champions  to help understand what is going on in the high street and what they want to see happening in their streets.

The virtual conference is open to any interested retailers and local champions. It is being hosted in collaboration with Three Rivers District Council.

Alex Schlagman, chief executive of SaveTheHighStreet.org, said: “High streets are the heartbeat of the local community and a key engine for the local economy and this conference will be full of ideas, help and support to a wide variety of businesses. We will also be hearing from local retailers who have great stories to tell and will hopefully prove to be an inspiration and a help to others.”

Over the past two years the district council has offered a variety of support to local businesses, and worked with a number of organisations including the Watford and West Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Small Businesses, independent business advice organisation Wenta, sustainability consultancy Sustainable X and the Rickmansworth co-working space provider Rivertech.

Cllr Sarah Nelmes, the Leader of Three Rivers District Council, said: “These are changeable and challenging times on the high street, so this could not be a more timely moment to be holding this conference. I urge local businesses to come along to the conference and see what help and advice is on offer.”

The conference will be held on Wednesday 23 November from 2pm to 3.45pm.
