Hertfordshire’s biggest celebration of the LGBTQ+ community is returning to the county for the first time in two years following the Covid lockdown restrictions.

Hertfordshire’s biggest celebration of the LGBTQ+ community is returning to the county for the first time in two years following the Covid lockdown restrictions.

Herts Pride 2021 – jointly sponsored by Three Rivers District Council – is billed as “bigger and better than ever” with stalls, a funfair and a diverse line-up of live entertainment. The event will also feature the Herts Pride Dog Show.

Cllr Sarah Nelmes, Leader of Three Rivers District Council, said: “We are extremely proud to be sponsoring this exciting event which is all about embracing diversity and ending discrimination. Herts Pride is especially significant this year as it will be the biggest event of its kind to happen in the area since the pandemic began. This event will bring celebrations after some tough times, and I encourage all who attend to respect and follow Covid guidelines to ensure they have a fun and safe experience.”

To help ensure the safety of those attending Herts Pride at Cassiobury Park in Watford, Hertfordshire County Council’s rapid testing team will be present. Organisers are also encouraging attendees to follow Covid guidelines which will include wearing face masks in certain areas.

Tyson Martin, Chair of Hertfordshire Pride Society, said: “I am proud of our achievements in establishing an annual event where everyone is welcome to come and celebrate Hertfordshire’s fabulous LGBTQ+ community. Herts Pride started in 2013 and thanks to everyone’s support we are now getting ready for our ninth event.

“The last 14 months of the Covid pandemic as we all know have been a challenge for everyone. With restrictions from lockdown being lifted I am excited that we are able to hold Herts Pride and its return to Watford.”

Herts Pride 2021 will take place on Saturday 14 August in Cassiobury Park from 12pm to 10pm. Book tickets in advance and online at https://www.wegottickets.com/event/518860
