Filmsmeet is delighted to announce that its Red Carpet event at Watersmeet on 9th January, featuring The Imitation Game starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightly, has proved to be an outstanding success.

Residents of the Three Rivers area and beyond have made clear that there is a demand for a cinema experience with a difference, and the Filmsmeet season continues through January, February and March with a number of mainstream, Art House and niche titles.  In superb, digital projection and crystal clear Dolby Digital sound, Watersmeet offers the chance to see top films in the comfort of an air-conditioned local venue.

January titles include Paddington, Gone Girl, What We Did On Our Holiday, while the Friends of Watersmeet Film Society continue its programme with The Lunch Box and Begin Again.  In February, Filmsmeet will present Northern Soul, My Old Lady, Annie and Fury along with the Friends’ titles Mr Turner, The Book Of Life and Pride.  March will see Filmsmeet screening Into The Woods, The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies, Ida (with subtitles), Whiplash and an audience choice (for which votes may be cast at the Box Office), plus the Film Society’s offering of Magic in the Moonlight.

Judy Simpson Leisure Marketing Manager at Three Rivers District Council, which owns and operates Watersmeet, said “not only are we showing  a broad range of titles, we are also trialling different times that the films are screened.  For instance, there are films starting at midday to allow stay-at-home parents to watch the film with friends and know it will be finished in time for the school run.  There are relaxed screenings which are ideal for new mothers to bring their babies to and there is a special student half price film for teenagers which will provide some post school entertainment for just £2.”

Keith Williams, Lead Member for Leisure & Wellbeing at Three Rivers District Council went on to say  : “We have been delighted by the public response to the Filmsmeet project, and are confident that residents of the district will continue to support it”
