Construction work has started on Phase 3 of South Oxhey Central as part of a £218m development.

Delivered by developer Countryside and housing association Home Group in partnership with Three Rivers District Council, Phase 3 will create 345 new homes, an 18,800 sq ft Lidl supermarket, and 6,500 sq ft of further retail space. With demolition works now completed, the first homes are expected to be ready in autumn 2022 with the new Lidl foodstore following in late 2022.

Phase 2 of the development is now almost fully complete, with all of the new retailers open, alongside a new market square. Progress has also been swift on the 174 new homes in the second phase, with 132 homes now handed over to residents and the remainder due to be handed over by the end of April.

Daniel King, Managing Director, Partnerships West London and Thames Valley, Countryside, said: “From the transformed Station Approach to the new market square and high-quality homes, we are proud of how we have delivered on our vision for South Oxhey Central. We’re looking forward to continuing this success with Phase 3, which will complement the existing community and retail scene with a varied mix of homes, additional retail space and Lidl supermarket.”

Joe Cook, Executive Director of Development at Home Group, added: “The successful redevelopment of South Oxhey Central is so important for the wider South Oxhey community. Phases 1 and 2 have already brought a new vitality to the heart of the area, and feedback to date has been really encouraging. We are delighted to now be starting on Phase 3.”

When fully complete, South Oxhey Central will consist of a total of 659 new homes and in excess of 55,000 sq ft of commercial space, set across two acres of landscaped public spaces. Two hundred and sixty four new homes have been delivered to date at South Oxhey Central, comprising 96 homes for social rent and 21 homes for shared ownership, and 147 private homes.
