The Council is investigating the theft of a metal memorial at a grave at Woodcock Hill cemetery in Harefield Road, Rickmansworth. The Cemetery is managed by Three Rivers District Council and is open to residents of any religious faith or none and includes a special woodland area for natural burials.
Three Rivers' Head of Environmental Protection, Alison Page, said:
"This type of theft is a complete disgrace and causes additional and unnecessary suffering to those who have been bereaved. If anyone has seen anything suspicious please contact us or the Police in confidence."
The Cemetery's gates are locked at night. The Council is assessing the use of CCTV in the vicinity to provide added security.
