An innovative furniture re-use project has received a financial boost of over £3,000 following fundraising by last year's Chairman of Three Rivers District Council, Kemal Butt.

The cheque for £3,182.38 was presented by Kemal at 9 Lives Furniture's Rickmansworth base on 6 January.

Cllr Kemal Butt said: "I am absolutely delighted to present this cheque to my chosen charity, 9 Lives.  9 Lives Furniture collects, refurbishes and resells furniture and household items in South West Herts, either subsidised for those in need or at market value, to fund the scheme. It is indeed the hidden gem of Three Rivers and a visit is a must -  everyone is so welcoming, friendly and dedicated."

In accepting the donation 9 Lives manager, Marie Frost, said:

"It was a great honour to have been Cllr Butt 's chosen  charity. Cllr Butt is very familiar with the way the charity works and through his continued support we now have a far wider presence in Three Rivers district. We can’t thank him enough."

9 Lives Furniture is holding a January sale until 11th of this month, with 10% off all items. Their store is open to all residents.

The charity is located at 25 Wharf Lane, Rickmansworth, WD3 1HA. People interested in donating furniture can find details on the charity's website www.9livesfurniture.org.uk/  01923 718 666.
