Three Rivers launches a new programme encouraging families to be physically active

Three Rivers launches a new programme encouraging families to be physically active.

As part of its Active Parks programme, Three Rivers District Council is running a series of family-friendly games and activities in parks and open spaces across the month of August. A range of sports will be on offer from rounders, cricket to tennis and basketball. Plus fun family-friendly games such as capture the flag, Frisbee and orienteering challenges that the whole family can do together.

Councillor Chris Lloyd, Lead Member for Leisure; said: “We want families to come together and enjoy being physically active in the great outdoor spaces we have in Three Rivers. We all know that being active is incredibly important to your health, and this programme allows all the family to get involved, and take part in a sport together.”

Each session will be facilitated by experienced staff who will be on hand to help run the sessions and offer suggestions. Activity sessions will take place across the district in the daytime, evenings and weekends to enable working families to take part as well.

Sara Bedford, Leader of the Council, added: “Families can take ownership of the sessions they attend and decide between themselves the sports and games they want to play. We want them to have fun together and enjoy being outdoors.”
