Elmer’s Hide and Seek Adventure Trail at Oxhey Woods

This summer, the paths of Oxhey Woods will be transformed into an interactive adventure with seven stops to join Elmer’s colourful hide and seek adventure.

The experience is designed for Elmer fans, young children and families looking for an easy, colourful and active day out. At each stop, families will find trail signage featuring a QR code. By scanning the code with a modern smartphone, players can discover which of Elmer’s friends is hiding there. There is no app to download, and the trail is designed to be easy for families to join in while exploring the park together.

The trail takes approximately 30 minutes to complete and is completely free for all families and groups. Find all seven of Elmer’s friends, follow the route, and complete the trail to discover the big surprise Elmer’s friends have been planning for him at the end.

So, why not join Elmer’s Hide and Seek between 29 July – 31 August. To start the adventure, families should head to Oxhey Woods and look for the first vinyl marker on a tree through the park.

How to play

📍 Find the friends: Track down the 7 artworks around the area using your digital map.

🔍 Spot the butterflies: Search each artwork for a hidden butterfly and match it to the decoder letter on your trail sheet (see trail sheets here if you do not have one).

📱 Scan the codes: Scan the QR codes to see Elmer's friends in AR!

🏆 Unlock the prize: Once you have found all 7 of Elmer's friends, the secret password will be revealed and you can unlock your final digital prize.

How do I scan QR codes?

Most modern phones now automatically scan QR codes simply by opening your camera app and pointing at them. If your phone doesn’t have this capability, you can download an app that reads QR codes instead. To make sure you successfully collect all the eggs, please use the SAME phone and web browser (e.g., Chrome) for the whole trail.
