Three Rivers District Council is thanking everyone who applied for thousands of trees as part of the county-wide free giveaway this year.

Hertfordshire County Council’s ‘Your Tree Our Future’ scheme returned for its second year earlier this summer, giving residents the opportunity to apply for up to five trees made up of nine species, which will be given away later this year.

The County Council has revealed that 74,161 trees were claimed across Hertfordshire – with nearly 7,100 claimed from Three Rivers.

Cllr Sarah Nelmes, Leader of Three Rivers District Council, said: “It’s incredible to see that the trees that were allocated to us were sold out so quickly.

“This just goes to show the seriousness of our residents and communities in tackling climate change by planting trees that will improve air quality for future generations.

“A big thank you to everyone who applied for a tree.”

If you requested trees, you should have received a confirmation email. If you haven’t, please email yourtree@hertfordshire.gov.uk with your name, postcode, and phone number.
