Leisure & Community Grants

Three Rivers District Council operates a programme of grants for community organisations.  The 2 types of grants available are as follows:

(1) ‘Leisure and Community Grants’ offer a way to support the costs of setting up a new activity or to help promote what a group already does.  Please note that the maximum Leisure and Community grant award is £3,000.
&
(2) ‘Capital Grants’ could contribute towards purchasing equipment or carrying out improvements to a building.  Please note that Capital grant applications of up to £10,000 are welcomed.

For 2017/18 the council has a total Leisure & Community grant budget of £35,000 and total Capital grant budget of £60,000.  You can see a list of grants awarded in 2016/17 at the bottom of this webpage.

Examples of who and what we support?
- Formally constituted not-for-profit organisations and charities
- Organisations planning to start up, one off items you need to buy and one-off projects
Please see guidance notes below for more information.

Examples of who and what we do not support?
 - Applications from Schools will not be considered and applications for a project / service already commissioned with public funds will only be considered in exceptional circumstances
 - We will not pay for retrospective work or general organisation running costs
 - We do not fund 100% of total project costs.
Please see guidance notes below for more information.

When to apply
There are usually 2 application rounds each financial year and applications are considered at the Leisure, Wellbeing & Health Committee.  Due to the low number of applications of over £300 received, an additional round has been added this year.  The closing dates for funding rounds in the current financial year (2017/18) are as follows:

  • Monday 24 July 2017 (for consideration at 6 Sept 2017 committee meeting)
  • Friday 20 Oct 2017 (for consideration at the 29 Nov 2017 committee meeting)
  • Friday 9 Feb 2018 (for consideration at 14 Mar 2018 committee meeting)

Please note that applications for up to £300 can be submitted all year round.
