Air quality and asbestos

Information on air quality and asbestos

Air quality

We have nitrogen dioxide tubes installed in various locations around the district to monitor air quality. We report this data annually to the Department of Environment, Food & Rural Affairs.

You can view air quality reports and monitoring data for the district on the Air Quality England website.

Watford Borough Council provide certain air quality services in Three Rivers District, such as the regulation of dry cleaners, crematoria, timber processes, and local air quality management.

Asbestos

Asbestos has become a major pollution concern in recent years. If asbestos is in good condition, it should not cause health problems.

While asbestos is no longer commonly used in homes, existing asbestos can cause health and environmental problems and must be removed and disposed of.

For advice on disposing of asbestos, contact the Health and Safety Executive on 0300 003 1747.
