Herts at War Partnering

10th November 2018

The Western Front Association and the charity Veterans in Action bring a one-off Armistice special event with a cracking line-up over a two-day period (Friday evening and all day Saturday).

The event will be based around a series of historical talks delivered by some of the foremost names in military history at our usual venue at the University of Hertfordshire, with a line-up as follows:

  • Alexandra Churchill – King George V in the Great War
  • Peter Hart – the Last Battle – Endgame on the Western Front
  • Joshua Levine – Pioneers of Military Aviation
  • Dr Phil Weir – The Royal Navy in 1918
  • Prof Peter Doyle  - Remembering Tommy
  • Dan Hill – The War on the Western Front
  • Richard Van Emden – 1918 – The Decisive Year
  • Laura Burkinshaw – Beyond Jutland - The Royal Navy.

As you can see, we are incredibly fortunate to have such a great group of speakers on our own doorstep on such a historic date! In addition, there will be a bookshop (more on that in a moment), merchandise (all profits to go to Veterans in Action), food, refreshments, object handling sessions and children’s activities over the two days – something for everyone!

And what’s more, it’s FREE to attend! So what do you need to do? It’s simple, just log on to https://www.greatwar100.online/tickets.html fill in the form and book your tickets. You can book for just one session, or all three if you like.

Please make sure that when you fill in the form you type ‘Herts at War’ in the additional information box so that we can guarantee your place.

Can you attend without a ticket? Yes, anyone is welcome to turn up and have a look around the bookshop, merchandise, chat with likeminded friends, chat to our team on-site or one of the other representatives there on the day (CWGC, WFA, Veterans in Action), but in order to attend talks we ask that you book your tickets ahead of time. We have been incredibly fortunate to enjoy such great support from you all over the last few years and hope very much that you will come along and join us.
