Landowner fined for unauthorised advertising

06th March 2012

A landowner, near the M25, was found guilty of two offences of unauthorised advertising at Watford Magistrates Court last week following a successful prosecution by Three Rivers District Council.

On 2 March, the owner of Notley Farm, adjacent to the M25, appeared at Watford Magistrates court and pleaded guilty to two offences of unauthorised advertising and was fined £585 for each offence, in addition to paying the Council's costs of £200 and a victim surcharge of £15.

Martin Trevett, Cabinet Member for the Environment, said:

“Having initially been successful in having the unauthorised advertisements removed in, they re-appeared and having been warned both verbally and via written correspondence, the owner failed to take note of the requirements of the Council.

“We hope this acts as a warning to other landowners from displaying similar adverts.”
