As part of the discussion, the following motion will be moved:-

The Council will:

  • campaign for a local ban on the provision of ‘free’ plastic bags
  • work with local retailers to reduce the use of plastic bags
  • work with residents, chamber of commerce and local environmental bodies to achieve this
  • raise awareness of the damage plastic bags do to the environment
  • urge the Government to take meaningful action, including binding targets, to promote and enforce packaging reduction.

7. MOTIONS UNDER PROCEDURE RULE 11

Councillor David Sansom, seconded by Councillor Kerron Cross, to move under Notice duly given as follows:-

This Council requests that the Liberal Democrat Group allows the other political groups to nominate their own representatives for outside bodies and does not use its block vote to pick and choose who represents opposition parties.
