Three Rivers District Council have an opportunity for a Building Control Contract Management Support Officer to join a growing team.

Since the beginning of 2018, Three Rivers District Council have been providing the building control statutory function on behalf of seven Hertfordshire local authorities. This function is known as LA1 and our services have supported Hertfordshire Building Control (HBC) to revolutionise the delivery of Building Control services in Hertfordshire.

The role sits within the vibrant Development Management team in a Local Authority which prides itself in developing and supporting staff.

Reporting to the Contract Manager, we are looking for an enthusiastic candidate who will play a key role in providing an efficient service. This will include the audit of building control processes, the production of statutory building control notices, management of invoicing, and in the contract and performance management assistance of HBC.

Skills and Experience:

Previous experience in this area is not essential. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong verbal and written skills with excellent attention to detail. The candidate must be able to demonstrate their ability and initiative to handle a diverse and competing workload, and work to tight deadlines. Excellent interpersonal skills will be necessary as the position will involve liaising and negotiating with a range of stakeholders including the public, external agents and organisations, Council Members and other Council departments.

We are offering a permanent, part-time opportunity within the LA1 function. The post offers an ideal opportunity to learn about the role of building control, and provides a platform to gain experience in contract management with a supplier. No previous building control experience is required but an interest in the built environment would be advantageous. This role may lead to future opportunities to develop a career in Building Control or Contract Management.
