Increase to the Hackney Carriage Fare Tariff

A request to vary the current Hackney Carriage fare tariff was reviewed by the Regulatory Services Committee on Wednesday 29 June 2022.

At this committee it was agreed that the fare table as requested shall be varied as per the initial request, with the exception of the change in the night time charging hours. Instead, it was agreed that the night time charge shall start at 21.30 hours and run until 06:00 hours.

The agreed changes are set out below:

  • An increase in the daytime rate from £2.80 to £3.00 for the first 1015 metres
  • Maintain the existing 10p rise thereafter but for every additional 90 meters up to 2030 meters (currently is additional 95 metres up to 2155 metres);
  • Maintain the existing 10p rise but for every additional 50 metres (or part thereof) in excess of 2030 (currently 55 metres in excess of 2155 metres);
  • An increase the night time charge from £3.20 to £3.50 including a change to the night time hours from 23:00hrs to 06:00hrs to 21:30hrs - 6:00hrs

The Council did not receive any objections within the 14 day consultation period therefore, the above changes will now take effect on Friday 29 July 2022. Any previous fare table therefore ceases to have effect.

Coronavirus (COVID-19): taxis and PHVs

Coronavirus – face coverings
The Government has mandated the wearing of face coverings in taxis and PHVs. All passengers travelling in taxis and PHVs are legally required to wear a face covering at all times when in the taxi or PHV, unless they are exempt from doing so.
TRDC continues to expect licensees to wear a face covering at all times when in a licensed vehicle, unless they are exempt from doing so. This is to keep both drivers and passengers safe.
