FA Talent Disability Event Day

11th November 2017

Watford FC CSE Trust have been successful to run a FA Talent Disability Event Day and FA Hub Programme for Cerebral Palsy, Deaf (Female and Males), partially sighted players. The day will feed both talent and grassroots exit routes with new players and Talent Hubs will enable the creation of localised action plans for talent identification, confirmation, education and wider talent development related practice.

On Monday 16th October from 7pm – 8.30pm at University of HertfordshireWatford FC CSE Trust will be holding an Introduction to the Talent Event Day and Hub Programme. The evening will go through the FA Strategy, the Talent Day and Hub in more detail to allow you to understand the process and an opportunity to ask questions on how you can refer individuals to attend.

FA England Talent Day
The FA England Talent Day will take place at University of Hertfordshire on Saturday 11th November from 11am – 1pm. (Please find downloadable poster below to circulate and registration form).

The Talent Day will be recognised as the first selective environment in the Player Pathway. The Programme will identify and signpost players to the ‘right’ environment at that point in time (they will run on a yearly basis to ensure that players can be re-assessed and kept in the Talent System). ETDs will not be viewed as player development environments. The England Talent Day will be underpinned with the formation of local Disability Football Recruitment Networks responsible for driving player identification and recruitment.

FA Talent Hub Programme
The FA Talent Hub will take place from January 2018 at St Mary’s CofE School, Lieutenant Ellis Way, Cheshunt EN7 5FB from 6pm – 7pm.

Hubs will deliver engagement sessions for players with cerebral palsy, deaf players and partially sighted players. Sessions will enable continued talent identification/confirmation opportunities and will impact younger players than previously engaged in Regional Talent Centres (7-11 and 12-16 cohorts). Hubs will be used as a ‘check point’ for these players and will have robust processes to link players to appropriate mainstream clubs or impairment specific clubs.

If you would like to book to attend the Introduction to the Talent Day and Hub Programme or further information on the talent day or hub please contact Ben Simms on ben.simms@watfordfc.com or call Ben on 07717 896185.
