Raising the flag for Armed Forces Day
21st June 2015
There are hundreds of events taking place to celebrate Armed Forces Day across the country. The Armed Forces Day celebrations begin on Monday 22 June when the Armed Forces Day flag is raised on buildings and famous landmarks around the country. Three Rivers District Council supported Armed Forces Day which takes place on Saturday 27 June, by hoisting the flag at Three Rivers House.
Chairman of the Council, Eric Bishop said, “Armed Forces Day is a chance to show your support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to Service families, veterans and cadets”
Although Armed Forces Day is not a charitable event, the Armed Forces have the support of several UK charities and many local events will offer opportunities to support them. To find out more about Armed Forces charities please see at www.gov.uk/donations-to-support-members-of-the-armed-forces
There are many ways for people, communities and organisations across the country to show their support and get involved, from attending an event or joining us online to throwing a party or local event.
