Hertfordshire Health Walks are striding for success

New short, free and led walks will soon be available in Three Rivers to boost the existing popular Health Walks programme. The successful weekly walks in Rickmansworth, Croxley Green and Abbots Langley will be complemented by additional walks in Maple Cross and Mill End, as well as South Oxhey.

Mill End - Fortnightly (on Sundays) from the 15 January at 2:30pm. The meeting point is outside the William Penn Leisure Centre.

South Oxhey - Every Monday at 10am. The meeting point is outside The Centre.

Hertfordshire Health Walks take place across Hertfordshire and are led by qualified volunteer walk leaders. The walks are free and short – between 20-30 minutes and 90 minutes – and are designed to help you improve your health and wellbeing in a friendly and sociable way. Walking is one of the easiest ways to meet the recommendation of 150 minutes moderate intensity exercise per week.


Councillor Chris Lloyd, Lead Member for Leisure, Community and Wellbeing says “It will be great to offer a wider range of walks to the residents of Three Rivers, providing an opportunity to progress from 20 minutes up to 90 minutes of walking. There are some great walking routes to be explored across the district, not just through the health walks programme but also walks across areas of outstanding beauty including the Grand Union Canal Walk, the Chess Valley Walk and the London Loop, which I will be walking for Charity next year.”

Health Walks are coordinated by the Countryside Management Service, part of Hertfordshire County Council, in partnership with Three Rivers District Council and Public Health Hertfordshire.

The walks are free to attend, and require no specialist equipment, only comfortable walking shoes.
