Mr Peter Baker, a former Rickmansworth resident, was found guilty of benefit fraud at Watford Magistrates Court on Wednesday 27th February 2013.   Mr Baker had been claiming benefits from Three Rivers District Council on the basis of limited income and capital. However, a fraud investigation uncovered evidence that Mr Baker had failed to declare that he held extensive undisclosed capital.

The court found him guilty of the offence and, after considering his age and health, fined Mr Baker £1500 and additionally instructed him to pay £1726 in costs as well as a  £15 victim surcharge.
