Following the findings from a detailed community consultation commissioned recently, Three Rivers District Council Leisure Services, are delighted to announce a new partnership with Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden to enhance Leavesden Country Park.

The partnership is a three year arrangement to celebrate the rich story of the Leavesden area with recognition of the social history and heritage left by Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, Aviation development at Leavesden Aerodrome, Leavesden Asylum/Hospital, the St Pancras Orphanage/Workhouse and the Canadian/Abbots Langley General Hospitals.

A series of priorities were identified by the public who wanted to develop projects, facilities and opportunities with partners, to enhance peoples’ understanding of heritage, with a particular focus on improving young people’s interest in heritage.

Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden has agreed to contribute a total of £150,000 over three years to support a creative project involving a Heritage Trail (including sculptures), information boards and an activities development programme.

The project is in its early phase whereby additional funding is being secured. It is hoped that a successful Heritage Lottery Fund bid, will mean that the park can become home to a Heritage Trail, a performance space, a Heritage Wildlife Centre, and a dedicated Park Ranger, offering a wide range of community activities throughout the year.

Lead member for Leisure, Community and Wellbeing, Councillor Chris Lloyd, commented: “Three Rivers District Council are thrilled to have such an important partner as Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden join us in this creative project. The project will celebrate the rich heritage of the area and give recognition to the important social history of Leavesden.’

Dan Dark, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden said: ‘We are delighted to be part of such a rewarding projects and something that will give so much back to the area and local community’
