GREEN FLAG STANDARD - PRESENTATION

Community First Partnership will be introducing Members to both Green Flag and GreenSTAT.

The Green Flag Award is the national standard for parks and green spaces in England and Wales. The award scheme began in 1996 as a means of recognising and rewarding the best green spaces in the country. It was also seen as a way of encouraging others to achieve the same high environmental standards, creating a benchmark of excellence in recreational green areas.

GreenSTAT is an evaluation system for parks and open spaces. Three Rivers is part of a newly formed benchmarking group that has been formed in Hertfordshire and signed up to GreenSTAT for two years.

Community First Partnership have been contracted to undertake a programme of Green Flag awareness raising events and training, by Hertfordshire Association of Cultural Officers Environmental Management Sub-Group. This work and the provision of the GreenSTAT system for two years has been extended to all 10 Hertfordshire Districts funded by the LAA.
