Senior Play Ranger

Salary: £23,761 – £25,296 pro rata

(inclusive of local weighting allowance)

24 hours a week

The Play Ranger project has run in the Three Rivers District since 2008, and we are now looking for a confident and enthusiastic Senior Play Ranger, who has experience of working with children and young people, to continue to deliver this service.

This exciting project offers the chance for an enthusiastic child focused individual to lead, recognise and promote the value of play in children’s lives through facilitating play sessions in the Three Rivers district.  The post will provide an opportunity to deliver inclusive play opportunities for children and young people aged 5-16 as well as community projects in parks, woodland and open spaces in key locations. Play Rangers will also be required to complete administrative tasks such as risk assessments and session reports.

The nature of this work is outreach and is outdoors in all weather conditions.

Play Rangers has recently expanded to be a more commercial enterprise, delivering services to schools and through Play Rangers parties. The Senior Play Ranger will be responsible for coordinating this work as well as securing additional business opportunities in partnership with the Play Development Officer.

Candidates will have specific experience working with children/youth and community groups.  Ideally they will have a Youth, Sport or Play qualification to a minimum of level 2, or be willing and able to attend training to this level. They will be able to demonstrate knowledge about the importance of children’s play. They will have initiative and the ability to work as part of a team, a sense of fun and be enthusiastic.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a passionate team involved in a community focused project, with a strong emphasis on training and personal development.

The ability to travel around the district and work weekends is essential so the post holder is required to drive. Own transport is preferable.

All successful applicants will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check.

For further information about the post, call Charlotte Gomes on 01923 727322 (Leisure Development Manager) or Chelsi Langsford (Play Development Officer) on 01923 727151
