£28,748 to £31,802 inclusive of local weighting. Plus £3,500 reviewable Market Supplement and essential car allowance

On the fringe of London, the District is experiencing significant development pressure, with a variety of planning applications.  The District has an excellent built and natural environment, many Conservation Areas, Listed Buildings and major areas of Green Belt and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We look to promote the highest standards of design through development negotiations and pro-active work.

A Senior Planning Officer is required to fill a temporary post within a Planning Team in the Development Management Section, initially for a year.  

You will be part of an enthusiastic and hardworking team handling a diverse workload which will include planning applications, pre-applications and appeals as well as enforcement matters and project work where required.  

You must be able to demonstrate your ability to handle a number of competing priorities. You will need to be well organised with strong verbal, written and presentation skills and possess the ability to work to tight deadlines.  You should have experience of presenting cases at Planning Committee meetings.

The possession of good interpersonal skills will also be necessary as you will be liaising and negotiating with the public, external agents and organisations, Council Members and other Council departments.  You should also be able to demonstrate an understanding and awareness of the functions of Local Government organisations, including the different roles of Officers and Members.

You must be RTPI or eligible and have at least 2 years relevant experience.

You must possess a clean driving license with personal transport and be familiar with IT.
