Level 2 / Level 3 Qualified Playworker

Roles:

Play Workers provide play opportunities for children in an inclusive playscheme setting within community venues. Through playwork, they advocate children’s right to play effectively and creatively whilst engaging children in the day to day decision making of the scheme.

Hours may be offered during Easter & summer school holidays varying up to 42.5 hours a week. Typical hours are from 8.00am – 4.30 pm, however we ask staff to be flexible, particularly during training, which will take place before the playscheme begins. The playworkers will be at Council managed playschemes which will be in schools in the local area. The successful applicants will be working with Site & Team Leaders, and other playworkers, working with between 24 and 30 children ranging in age from 4 – 12 years.

 We are looking for enthusiastic individuals with experience of working with children and young people. You will need to be flexible in your attitude and approach as you may be required to work with varying age groups.

 You will receive full training and induction manuals detailing specific procedures.

Hours of work:

Hours could vary between 8.00am – 4.30pm, Monday – Friday, during school holidays.

Occasional weekend work

Training:

The post holder will be required to complete entry level and ongoing training which the council will provide.

Essential:

At least a Level 2 or Level 3 childcare related qualification.

The post holder is required to drive – in order to travel around the district.
