Young people taking the plunge at a local pool.Taking a dip or plunging in is now a whole lot easier in Three Rivers and we think that’s something to make a splash about!

iSwimforFree is at a pool near you so isn’t it time you got into the water!

For the next two years iSwimforFree will be available for everyone under the age of 19 and everyone over the age of 60 years.

The pools where you can swim for free are Sir James Altham Swimming Pool in South Oxhey and Watford Leisure Centre Woodside* in Watford.

Free swimming is available at all public swim times at Sir James Altham Swimming Pool, so you can swim at your leisure for absolutely nothing! You will only have to pay for swimming lessons, club usage, aqua-aerobics and private hires.

Free swimming is available at Swim for All, Swim Fitness, 50+ swimming sessions, and Swim for Fun sessions at Watford Leisure Centre Woodside.

How do iSwimforFree?

You will need to register in advance with the venue of your choice to be able to swim for free. Registration is simple and free.
Whether you’re under 19 or over 60 years you will also need to take some identification with you which includes your date of birth.

This could be a passport, driving licence, bus pass, Citizen Card / Proof of Age card or a birth certificate.




Staff at Sir James Altham Swimming Pool will ask you to complete a registration form, which will then take about 48 hours to process. You will then be able to collect your membership card from the venue and swim for free at all public swimming sessions.

You must remember to take this card with you every time you swim for free – without it you will have to pay.

If you're a Three Rivers resident and intend to swim for free at Watford Leisure Ladies enjoying a swim.Centre, Woodside your ID will need to be either a driving licence, Proof of age Card/ Citizen Card, passport, birth certificate or a bus pass and you will need one proof of residency (utility bill, Council Tax). If you're under 19 years of age you can ask your parent or gaurdian to go with you to register if you not have the approriate ID, and they will need to take their council tax book or a utillity bill with them as proof of residency.

Alternatively young people aged from 12 to 19 years, can take an official letter, such as a bank statement as proof of residency if they prefer not to go along with a parent or gaurdian.

You will then receive an Everyone Active membership card and then you will be able to swim for free but please remember to take your Everyone Active card with you - without it you will have to pay.

William Penn Leisure Centre will be throwing open its doors - and swimming lanes - for iSwimforFree. Keep up to date with the improvements and the refurbishment of William Penn Leisure Centre so you know when you'll be able to swim for free in the new pool.

  * If you are a Three Rivers resident you can swim for free at Watford Leisure Centre, Woodside, which means you live in one of these areas:

 Abbots Langley, Leavesden, Croxley Green, Chorleywood, Maple Cross, Mill End, Rickmansworth, Sarratt, Moor Park, South Oxhey, Carpenders Park.

For the school summer holidays during 2009, Watford Borough Council is offering free swimming for under 18's at Woodside.

iSwimforFree terms & conditions for Sir James Altham Swimming Pool, William Penn Leisure Centre and Watford Leisure Centre Woodside:

 1)      iSwimforFree is for anyone wishing to swim at William Penn Leisure Centre and Sir James Altham Swimming Pool under the age of 19 or 60 years and over on  01/04/09.

2)    iSwimforFree is for Three Rivers residents ONLY who are over the age of 60 or under the age of 19 years on 01/04/09 at Watford Leisure Centre Woodside 

3)     Once a swimmer reaches the age of 19 years they will no longer be eligible to participate in iSwimforFree

4)      Free access is only available during normal casual public swim sessions ie where casual swim charges apply. Visit www.everyoneactive.co.uk or www.hertsmereleisure.co.uk for further information on times

5)      Free access is NOT available for swimming lessons, club usage, private hires ie parties or specialist activities, aqua-aerobics, super splash pool disco events, etc.

6)      All customers requiring free access must be able to prove eligibility as required by the management of the venue

7)      Management have the right at all times to limit access to the pool for free usage at busy periods where bather loads are high. This is for health and safety reasons.
