Youth Council to discuss personal safety and grant awards

Date:  25 October 2006

Young people in Three Rivers District are invited to attend the next meeting of the Three Rivers Youth Council.

The meeting, which takes place on Tuesday 31 October, will be attended by local Youth Crime Reduction Officer with Hertfordshire Constabulary, Sue Desmond.  Sue will be discussing personal safety with the young people attending, ways to keep themselves safe, and issues such as vandalism and carrying weapons.

The Youth Council will also be looking at the applications received from local groups and charities for a Youth Council grant.  The Youth Council has a small annual grant fund and will be deciding at their meeting how this year's fund should be allocated.

Leader of the Council and Young Person's Champion, Ann Shaw, says:

"Coming along to the Youth Council is a great way to have your say on what's happening in your local area.  Young people are an important part of the Three Rivers community and it's important that they are involved in it.  Why not drop in, bring your friends, and see what it's all about."

The meeting takes place at Three Rivers House, Northway, Rickmansworth on Tuesday 31 October from 5.30pm-7pm.  Anyone under 19 who lives in or goes to school in Three Rivers district is welcome to come along.
