Youth Council meets 3 July

Groups awarded grants at the February Youth Council return to talk to members at the summer meeting which takes place next week on Tuesday 3 July.

Local journalist Adam Binnie will also speak about a day in the newsroom at the Watford Observer and there will also be a talk on alcohol awareness from the community safety team with an opportunity to try out ‘beer goggles.’

The Youth Council, which is free for young people aged 11-19 to attend, takes place on Tuesday 3 July from 5.30-7pm in the Penn Chamber at Three Rivers House in Rickmansworth. New members are always welcome. Just turn up on the day.

Young Person’s Champion, Councillor Ann Shaw, said; “This should be a really enjoyable meeting with lots of interesting topics to discuss and I would encourage more young people in the district to come along to a Youth Council meeting and play their part in making their voices heard and making a difference to their local community. I’m particularly looking forward to hearing how the groups awarded grants are getting on.”

Three Rivers Youth Council takes place on Tuesday 7 February 5.30-7pm in the Penn Chamber, Three Rivers District Council, Northway, Rickmansworth, WD3 1RL.

Free pizza, snacks and refreshments are available from 5pm.

The Youth Council is open to anyone aged 11-19 who lives or goes to school in the district and meets three times per year. Young people chair the Youth Council and all decisions are made by themselves. All secondary schools and youth groups in the area are invited to attend.

Recipients of this year’s grant included Your First Interview, 2384 Bushey and Oxhey Air Training Corps, Watford Mencap, Onelife, The Afterschool Club, Signpost, Sea Lion Swimming Club.
